The Dead Rise at Roseland
The Dead rocked the Roseland Ballroom last night (3/30/09) in New York. Set 3 of their three-venue Taxi Tour of the city came with high expectations. It delivered. The boys sounded strong and came out firing with an setlist geared towards their most deadicated fans.
“Althea” >
“Cassidy”
“Uncle John’s Band”
“Eyes of the World” >
“St. Stephen” >
“Dark Star” >
“Sugar Magnolia”
Encore:
“Not Fade Away”
Personally, I thought “Sugar Mags” was the highlight of the night, but you certainly can’t argue with getting “St. Stephen”>”Dark Star, especially the traded vocals and three-part harmony shared by Phil, Bobby and Warren. Also, while “Uncle John’s Band” fell a little flat for me in the jam, the singing was solid.
